Tell people why you would like to record and agree on how the recording will be used. Make a short test before the conversation begins.
Check the rules of your workplace or venue. If someone does not want to be recorded, make room for a different way to take notes.
DURING
A recording can hold the words. Your attention belongs to the person speaking. Ask a follow-up, allow a pause, and keep the device within reach.
Check the recording status on the screen. A device cannot replace listening, and a status light or screen does not guarantee a useful recording.
AFTER
Listen back, check the important details and agree on the next step. Share only what the participants have agreed to share.
Verify names, quotations and decisions against the original recording. Review an AI-generated draft before it becomes a message, a promise or a published piece.
